Save the date, Apple Event 2024 will be held on Tuesday, May 7 at 7 am Pacific Time. The name is “Let Loose.” Is it a big deal? Yes, if you’re an iPad lover. The Cupertino company is rumored to unveil an updated version of the tablet. The logo features a pencil, so this gadget is supposed to appear too. But there’s another pressing issue with Apple Event 2024 for us as a premier digital signage software for Apple TV. Will Tim Cook-led company announce the new generation of a device?
Here’s what you can expect from Apple Event 2024.
All eyes on the new iPad Pro
Mark Gurman from Bloomberg reported earlier this year that Apple was heavily focused on manufacturing the new iPad range. There were also reports that the company plans to launch them in May. Well, Apple Event 2024 is where it will be done.
So what can we expect from a new iPad Pro model? According to the reports it will feature:
– a new, faster M3 chip
– it will use the OLED displays
– the device will support Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil
– it will be much thinner than the predecessor (249.7mm x 177.5mm x 5.1mm for 11-inch and 281.5mm x 215.5mm x 5.0mm for 13-inch)
– MagSafe wireless charging may be a part of the package
iPad Air is also rumored to appear
The new iPad Air version is going to be presented at Apple Event 2024. While it isn’t believed to be much different from the previous version, the device will probably feature a new screen size.
Mark Gurman wrote that it’s going to be 12.9-inch and mini-LED.
Also, the new models will have M2 chips and come with landscape-oriented front cameras.
An updated Magic Keyboard
There are few doubts that the improved version of the Magic Keyboard will make an appearance at the Apple Event this year. The company is banking on the new version of the iPad and the keyboard is probably getting a redesign to serve tablet users best.
One of the reasons for a Magic Keyboard update is Apple’s idea of making the iPad experience one step closer to a laptop one, albeit with additional flexibility.
Macrumors reported that the new Magic Keyboard is almost certainly coming with an aluminum enclosure.
Apple Pencil secures a spot on Apple Event’s logo
The new Pencil is coming. It’s all in the main image of the “Let Loose” event announcement on Apple’s main website. The gadget is an important part of an iPad experience so it’s quite natural that the company would give it an update.
The “squeeze” action may appear and the Vision Pro extension is also expected.
FYI, it’s the first update for both the Pencil and the Magic Keyboard since the pre-pandemic 2018. In other words, it’s a big deal.
Will the new version of the Apple TV device be announced at Apple event 2024?
Here’s the most interesting question for us as a digital signage software for Apple TV. Earlier this year we wrote a big article on what to expect from the 4th generation of Apple TV. Little was known about the device, but it was almost certain that an upgraded version would have a new, faster processor as well as a deeper integration with Apple’s Smart Home vision.
Just about a week ago, Mark Gurman reported a bombshell news. The next-gen Apple TV may get a radical redesign with a FaceTime camera added inside the body. That wasn’t completely unexpected considering that we’ve already known that the company is working to include the device in the Smart Home ecosystem. But camera? If true, that would become one of the biggest additions to Apple TV in years.
Now coming back to Apple Event 2024. Neither Gurman in his latest Bloomberg article about “Let Loose” happening, nor Apple-focused websites like 9to5Mac and Macrumors included the fourth generation of Apple TV among their expectations. And that’s quite strange as Bloomberg reported that the updated device is expected in the first part of 2024.
This leads us to two conclusions. The most probable one is that Apple TV is not going to appear at Apple Event 2024. It seems that the whole focus of this particular event will be on the new iPad and the accessories so it makes sense not to mix these things. Alternatively, Apple may have a soft presentation of a new Apple TV device without the revolutionary camera addition.
Apple Event 2024 is not the only big happening for the company in the first part of the year. WWDC 2024 is another important gathering and Apple may present Apple TV there. Let’s wait and see.
