7 Best Pizza Ads of All Time

Who wants some pizza? We thought that this food deserves a special place on our blog. Especially considering that Kitcast is actively used by pizzerias around the world. That’s why here’s the list of the best pizza ads that will definitely make all the pizza lovers happy and give you some cool advertising ideas too. So take your Margherita and let’s enjoy these advertising campaigns together.

1. The Noid – Domino’s

Why: you gotta respect the classics. It was Domino’s that introduced one of the most memorable pizza ads of the 80s with “The Noid.”

Who is the Noid? According to his very own Wikipedia page, he is male by gender, and his occupation is “ruining and stealing pizza.” Since its introduction in the 1986 ad, this mascot has become one of the most recognizable Domino’s brand attributes.

Noid became so popular that Domino’s even released a video game called Yo! Noid. It was developed by Capcom for Nintendo. Also, the character has made many appearances in Domino’s pizza ads throughout the 80s and 90s. Although the pizza chain discontinued the Noid at some point in the 90s, it has made several revivals in the 21st century too.

2. Best Thing Since Sliced Bread – Little Caesars

Why: wow, with this Super Bowl commercial, Little Caesars produced one of the best pizza ads ever. First of all, it features Rainn Wilson (famous for playing Dwight Schrute in The Office TV show). This alone makes it a valuable piece of pop culture. Wilson’s character is the CEO of “Sliced Bread.” But there’s a big threat looming over the horizon. The delivery people around the world refer to Little Caesars pizza as “the best thing since sliced bread.”

The “Sliced Bread” brand starts showing cracks. Wilson’s CEO desperately tries to prevent Little Caesars from taking over “the best” title but everything is in vain. A few breakdowns later, Rainn Wilson is delivering Little Caesars himself. Pizza won over sliced bread, this is the end. Now this commercial is among the best pizza ads of all time. Poignant, cinematic, pop culture-infused, and irresistible.

3. $10 Tastemaker – Pizza Hut

Why: Craig Robinson is all charm in this Pizza Hut commercial for a $10 Tastemaker promotion. While the running time is only 15 seconds, we get a complete product of pizza marketing perfection. At the center of everything here is Robinson mocking his friends for correcting him. And this works.

Pizza Hut teaches everyone how to make a memorable pizza ad without a lengthy running time and still win big. And how about the tagline “No one outPizzas the Hut?” This is genius.

4. Really Good Pizza – RaceTrac

Why: one of the best pizza ads ever doesn’t come from a popular pizza chain. It comes from the gasoline service station brand RaceTrac. In 2023, the company put a lot of effort into crafting a highly creative and fun “Really Good Pizza” commercial that features a great jingle and a flawless performance from the gas station employee. Sung in a Jack Black fashion, the song just gets stuck in your head. That means that the jingle definitely works. And it’s a sin not to try the $1 pizza from RaceTrac after such a good ad.

By the way, the ad currently has more than 1.3 million views on YouTube, so RaceTrac made sure that the jingle is duly heard.

5. Shaquille O’Neal Epic Stuffed Crust – Papa John’s

Why: there are celebrities in pizza ads and there is Shaq in Papa John’s commercials. The level of commitment of a charismatic former professional basketball player to his advertising duties is simply better. In this ad, the star plays… different people.

The group of Shaqs enjoys the new stuffed crust from Papa John’s when the real Shaquille O’Neal comes home and asks “What are you guys doing at my house?” It’s so silly we can’t. But that’s the recipe for an amazing pizza ad. Have a celebrity that actually enjoys being the face of your brand.

6. Muhammad Ali commercial – Pizza Hut

Why: this commercial should be included in the golden collection of the best pizza ads of all time. It’s not just some forgettable video, it’s a short film. In the 90s Pizza Hut managed to get some of the world’s greatest sports figures to star in their campaign. We’re talking about the legendary Muhammad Ali and his boxing coach and cornerman Angelo Dundee. The pizza chain crafted a compelling, tear-jerking story of hard work, old friendships, and… delicious pizza.

The video starts with Angelo Dundee training a boxer who gets frustrated due to the intense sparring and irritated by Dundee’s continuous motivational phrases. Finally, he’s on the brink of a breakdown and says “Old Man, what do you know about boxing?” to which Dundee calmly responds “Calm down, kid.” As a way to calm down, they go to Pizza Hut (of all places). A surprise awaits there, Muhammad Ali happens to dine at the store at the same time. The boxer sends his trainer a little gift, the whole pizza for “teaching him everything he knows.” Now that’s a powerful ad.

7. The Last of the Best Pizza Ads – The Official Food Of Recovery from Domino’s

Why: in 2017, Domino’s did quite an unusual YouTube and TV campaign which involved 11-hour footage of various soothing slow TV-inspired videos. It was part of a larger #OfficialFoodOfRecovery advertising campaign, but that particular YouTube video is an example of highly creative marketing. This is what you’d call “thinking outside of the box.” Just a continuous broadcast of pleasant and relaxing things like a flowing creek, a fireplace, rain falling behind the window, and the aquarium fish. It is called the “Recovery Channel.”

No one did anything like that in the pizza realm before, and no brand realized anything similar after. This pizza ad is a bizarre marketing exception that is charming and really really long. You can still watch it to get into a sleepy mood or meditate.
