Here Are The 8 Best Drone Shows Ever

Big events in 2024 are usually accompanied by bombastic drone shows. We’ve decided to collect the most impressive ones to show what progress humanity reached in entertaining one another with the help of flying vehicles. So here are the 8 best drone shows ever.

1. Warsaw Drone Show commemorating 1944-2024 Warsaw Uprising

Number of drones: 615

Why: it wasn’t the biggest drone show in the world, yet the Warsaw Uprising commemoration showed how smaller-scale drone presentations can be used to celebrate public events. The city released 615 drones equipped with LED lights into the dark sky above the Vistula River to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising.

The drones “painted” various symbols in the sky to reflect the WW2 struggle. Dramatic music was used to enhance the theatrical effect. That definitely was one of the best drone shows of 2024.

2. Shenzhen 72nd anniversary of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture Drone Show

Number of drones: 7,598

Why: here we look at nothing less than one of the biggest drone shows ever created. The event took place in the Chinese city of Shenzhen to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture.

A whopping number of 7598 drones were used to create a stunning audiovisual spectacle. Spectators could witness gigantic dragons, tigers, and flowers taking over the skies above Shenzhen. It even broke the Guinness record at the time for the largest aerial image formed by multirotors/drones.

What curious, one laptop was all it took to control this immense display of drone extravaganza. Now that’s impressive.

3. Pompano Beach Drone Light Show

Number of drones: 400

Why: it’s not always that you need thousands of drones to make an impression. Boutique solutions work great for local celebrations too. And not every drone show needs to be public. Firefly Drone Shows is a good example of a private company organizing thematic drone shows for various communities and causes.

Like this Pompano Beach Drone Light Show that employed 400 vehicles to entertain the visitors of the Florida city north of Fort Lauderdale. Eye-catching, visually flawless, and entertaining. What else do you need from a public show?

4. Lexington 250 Weekend of Light Drone Show

Number of drones: 400 drones

Why: we are used to digital signage storytelling. But 2024 has also introduced a new way of telling stories: through drones. The Lexington 250 Weekend of Light Drone Show is a perfect example of how it’s done. 400 drones worked hard to duly celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Lexington. And Massachusetts suburban town did a great job transforming the sky into a canvas for retelling the historical events that took place here during the American Revolutionary War.

Who knew that history would come alive with the help of flying vehicles in 2024. But that’s the technological reality of today.

5. 37th Louis Vuitton America’s Cup 2024 Opening

Number of drones: 1000

Why: Bogatell Beach in Barcelona became a ground for the innovative 37th Louis Vuitton America’s Cup 2024 Opening. Its most memorable part? The stunning drone show gathered 1000 vehicles that flew above the Mediterranean Sea serving as a high-tech accompaniment to the artistic show that took place on the sand. The happening has officially become the largest drone show in Europe. Also, we have to admit that combining drones with opera is a killer idea that just adds to the epicness.

6. Shenzen Chinese National Day celebration

Number of drones: 10,197

Why: Shenzen does it again. The Chinese city nicknamed “world’s drone capital” broke its own drone show record by releasing 10000+ drones in the air. Chinese National Day was the occasion and the show traditionally included visualizations of various symbols in the dark sky. The record broken was the “most drones forming an aerial image.” This city just can’t keep calm when it comes to producing awe-inspiring drone shows. So let’s brace ourselves for 20000 next month?

7. Amaravati drone show in India

Number of drones: 5500

Why: Krishna River lit up with thousands of lights during the Amaravati drone show in India. The happening broke five Guinness World Records and became the biggest show in the country to date. Lord Buddha, an airplane, and the gargantuan national flag were among the forms that appeared in the sky. Also, the show had a digital signage element as LED screens were installed across Vijayawada to broadcast the live stream of the record-breaking spectacle.

8. Las Vegas Sphere x Rebel Moon Drone Activation

Number of drones: 400

Why: doing an advertising stint using the impressive LED capabilities of Las Vegas Sphere is already an eye-catching feat (and a pricy one too). However, Netflix decided to take things even further. To promote Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon the company partnered with SKYMAGIC to launch 400 drones into the sky over The Sphere.

That wasn’t just a random LED lights flight, the drones “formed” a symbolic circle around the exosphere thus creating an illusion of an actual planet that landed on the desert landscape of Las Vegas. Mesmerizing? You bet. That’s definitely one of the best commercial drone shows ever created.

Also, it seems that 400 is an optimal number for a good drone show. 3 out of 8 entries in this list have resorted to it.
