When is the new Apple TV coming?
Apple is busy in 2024. The Tim Cook-led company is trying to compete in and win the big AI race. It launches new futuristic VR products. MacBooks, iPads, and iPhones are getting exciting Apple Intelligence-powered upgrades. New shows are coming to Apple TV+ in a quest to make it the streaming service of choice. A question lingers, though. What about the new Apple TV?
The first promising news about the upcoming update came from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman at the end of 2023. The reporter wrote that Apple planned to release the fourth generation of Apple TV 4K in the first half of 2024. As we know, that didn’t happen.
Then there was a May 7 event putting a highlight on the ultra-fast M4 chip and the WWDC 2024 presenting Apple Intelligence. The latter was rumored to be a launching ground for new Apple TV but again, it didn’t happen.
Still, Apple teased the upcoming streaming box device with the presentation of tvOS 18. Nothing revolutionary came with the update, but it set the ground for the 4th generation Apple TV 4K that will possibly include Apple Intelligence features too.
When is the new Apple TV coming? Nobody knows. Apple didn’t mention it during the big events and the tech talk surrounding the possible update just withered.
Will the new Apple TV be released on the September 9 event?
Unlikely.
The September 9 event entitled “It’s Glowtime” will be entirely devoted to new iPhones (one of the company’s bestselling products ever).
iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro and new Apple Watch models will be presented.
What to expect from the new Apple TV?
According to the rumors, here are the top features of the new Apple TV:
- faster chip (possibly A17 processor)
- built-in FaceTime camera
- sub-$100 pricing to compete with Roku Ultra and the newly released Google TV Streamer 4K
- integration with some Apple Intelligence features
- updated Siri remote
